Getting Involved in Coaching
Coaches help to introduce, sustain and improve the young people, players and athletes in their care.
There are a number of training courses available to volunteers through the following organisations:
- Local Sport Partnerships (LSPs)
- Lucozade Sport (LS)
- Coaching Ireland (CI)
- National Governing Bodies (NGBs)
Training courses offered by these organisations include the following:
Local Sports Partnership courses
- First aid – a number of LSPs offer first aid courses to volunteers
- Speed, Agility, Quickness is a system of training that enhances performance in all sports. SAQ understands and develops the relationship between skill and fitness, between general conditioning and the requirements of sports specific games

Lucozade Sport
The Sports Education Programme offers access to education in the area of sports science to all those involved in sport. There are five modules to the programme and are as follows:
