Setting up a Group
Setting up a group need not be as complicated as you might imagine. There are many sources of information readily available to you.
There are Local Sports Partnerships located in each county around the country that will be able to give you advice on what you need to do. They also offer training in many areas, from Child Protection, to training for new Treasurers in a club. There may also be grants available to you on a local level and your LSP will be able to advise you on how to apply.
22 LSPs have been allocated a total of €140,788 in funding for Women in Sport programmes.
Also, if your activity is an organised sport, you may be able to get advice from the National Governing Body of the sport. You can find contact details here for each of the NGBs and for more information or ideas.
27 sports were allocated grants totalling €1.375 million under the 2010 Women in Sport Programme. Allocations to the FAI and IRFU have to be finalised and their grants will bring the final annual budget to €1.775 million.
